Bridges Network Event
February 23, 2026
Attendees were invited to connect with graduate students working in Indigenous Health and Indigenous Studies to learn more about their research experience. We were able to hear from both Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers working in the field. A huge thank you to Stone Rivers, Kendal Garlow, Kelsy Chan, and Laura Lawson for sharing and chatting with our students!
Celebrating 10 Years of IHM - General Member Assembly
February 4, 2026
General members of IHM were invited to celebrate IHM's 10 year anniversary! Members and executive team members got to network and get to know one another while hearing more about the roles of each team member and enjoying delicious birthday cake. General members were encouraged to apply to join the team in the upcoming year. Cheers to a decade of IHM!


Healthy Reform - Guest Speaker: Stephanie George

Stephanie George (Oneida/French Canadian) is an instructor of Indigenous Health at McMaster University and Cultural Safety at York University. She shared her insights as a MSc- Health Sciences program student at McMaster and former Indigenous Midwife at the Six Nations Birthing Centre (Lactation Consultant). Attendees engaged in discussion and and activities around trauma-informed care and advocacy for culturally appropriate care.
Threads & Knowledge - Louis Riel Day & Métis Finger Weaving

Attendees gathered to learn more about Louis Riel Day (November 16, 2025) and connect with Métis culture and community through a finger weaving workshop led by Indigenous students.


MIRI Indigenous Research Day
November 4, 2025
IHM students partnered with the McMaster Indigenous Research Institute to honour Indigenous innovation at the 4th Annual Indigenous Research Day. Faculty, student, and community research affiliated with the FEAST Centre for STBBI Research, McMaster Indigenous Research Institute, Indigenous Health Learning Lodge, and the Indigenous Studies Department. IHM members also volunteered for the event and supported Indigenous vendors at the McMaster University Student Centre.
MDA x IHM Annual Research Seminar
March 18, 2025
The McMaster Indigenous Health Movement (IHM) Club collaborated with the McMaster Diabetes Association (MDA) for their annual Diabetes Research Seminar, exploring the latest in diabetes research and its connection to Indigenous health.
Through this partnership, IHM and MDA created a space for learning, discussion, and collaboration, bridging research with real-world impact in Indigenous health.


Art is Medicine - IHM Art Show
January 26, 2024
Art is Medicine was an art show run curated by IHM in the spring of 2024. It is a collection showcasing the work of five young Indigenous artists from around Ontario in collaboration with the Hamilton Artists Inc. This collection of multidisciplinary works features paintings, photography and traditional beading practices to provide a visual representation of Indigenous Health and Wellbeing. The show highlights art as an act of creation, resistance, and ultimately revitalization of a healthy mind, body, and spirit.
